Proceso

STEP 1. ESTABLISHING THE GROUPS

You are going to work in groups, so first  you have to decide what group you would like to be in. Your group will represent a European country. Have a look at the following map and the flags of some countries and start thinking about it.

austria   france  germany  grecia  ireland   italy

portugal   sweden   uk   netherland  norway  spain

STEP 2. MY NEIGHBOURS' CHRISTMAS

santa_with_computer

You have to find as much information as possible about Christmas celebration in that country. Select one of those  flags and discover how Merry Christmas is said, how I am called, what decorations they use?

Ready? Got it?

Rrrrright!!

Each member of your group will concentrate on one aspect (meals, gifts, typical decorations ...)

You can download the .zip files with the name of your country from here. There you will find some clues regarding the information you can look for BUT you can think about different aspects, it's up to you!!

Would you like to know more about Christmas celebrations in these countries? Just click here and download the file named "Moreabout.zip".

STEP 3. DO YOU KNOW...?

Prepare a list of questions for the other European countries? mates in your class.

STEP 4. OUR ADVENT CALENDAR

Your teacher is going to collect all your questions and answers papers.

He / she wil make photocopies and will deliver them to the groups so that each group can have all the questions and answers.

Each group will have to create an Advent Calendar.

Remember that an Advent Calendar can have 25 or 31 days. So, your group has to choose as many questions and answers for those days.

Easy work, isn? it?

You have to come to an agreement with the members of your group regarding the design of the Calendar.

You can pick up some ideas from the following web pages.

CONGRATULATIONS!!

With this Webquest you have learnt how our European neighbours celebrate Christmas. As you see, their Christmas is not very different from ours as many people think.

Now you can establish some differences between Christmas celebration in the country you have chosen and the same celebration in Spain.

You have approached an aspect of the culture of that country and you have been able to widen the information according to your interest and curiosity.

Now you are prepared to know more social and cultural aspects not only of our neighbour countries but also others? to appreciate the cultural diversity in which we are living.

Thanks to this webquest, you have also learnt to work in a team. You must have seen how difficult team work is. All your team mates have learnt how to divide the work among the members and have collaborated to share all information and reached agreement regarding certain aspects of the Advent Calendar.

Thanks to this webquest, to your Advent Calendar and of course to your positive attitude you and all members of your school will be able to know certain aspects of Christmas celebrations in Some European countries , as your Calendar will be hung on your classroom?s walls.
